Copper is required for synthesis of the chlorophyll molecule, but not as part of the molecule. It is a component of some enzymes. Copper is important in oxidation-reduction reactions and in the respiration process. Copper is mobile in the plant.

Symptoms of copper deficiency are: stunted growth, Die back of terminal shoots in trees. Poor pigmentation. Wilting and eventual death of leaf tips. Formation of gum.

In animals, as a group, MANGANESE, COPPER, and COBALT, are essential as biocatalyst in the formation of enzymes, hormones, proteins, etc. leading to disease resistance. When adequately present, they will prevent and correct the Bang's disease in cattle and undulant fever in man.
