The Read Ranch is an approximately 5,000 acre property located in Crockett County, Texas, about 13 miles south of I-10 off of Taylor Box Road.
Amenities for hunting include: a hunting lodge, separate restroom facilities, 3 bedroom mobile home, walk-in cooler/freezer, and 24 hunting blinds with feeders. This ranch has been managed under a Texas Parks and Wildlife Level III Managed Lands Deer Permit since 2007.
The successful bidder will be required to meet all TPWD requirements to maintain the permit including conducting spotlight surveys, harvesting deer according to TPWD harvest recommendations, collecting and submitting harvest records. This property is operated by Texas A&M AgriLife Research as a field laboratory to conduct rangeland, livestock and wildlife research, which may take priority over hunting operations. In addition to the lease price, the successful bidder will be required to have electrical service for hunting facilities transferred to their name, provide propane for facilities, maintain all hunting facilities, and maintain water during hunting season.
The minimum bid for this lease is $30,000/yr and final price will be determined by open cry auction on March 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the ranch. A deposit of 10% of the final auction price will be required at the close of the auction, with the balance due as specified in the terms of the lease contract once that document is completed. Term of the lease will be 4 years with an option to renew for an additional five year lease. Bidders must be present to bid.
Outfitter Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability of conducting hunting operations under a TPWD Level III MLDP.
- $1,000,000 liability policy.
- References from previous lessors of hunting properties the bidder has managed.
